Rolling Stones at Pinkpop 2014
The stone rolls to Landgraaf
The Rolling Stones are back in business. The four old hands announce a sequel to the successful ’50 and counting ‘tour in 2014. On the busy tour schedule there is also a visit to Pinkpop. It took Jan Smeets months of negotiation and reportedly three million euros of his budget, but he succeeded: the most expensive Pinkpop act ever has arrived.
The Stones attract tens of thousands of fans to the Limburg town. Saturday will even sell out in record time. The rock legends have been booked to close classics with almost two hours of the first day of the festival. Mick Jagger and co. start the show with ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash ‘, in which the frontman immediately gets out of breath. It conjures a smile on the faces of young and old. A laugh that only slowly disappears after two legendary Pinkpop hours.
